I love Dove chocolates promises. Not only are they delicious, they come with quotes. Here are a few I've been hanging on to for a while, along with my thoughts about each:
Shape the future by dealing with the present.
(or, in some cases, by dealing with your past! Either way, you have to deal with both past and present sooner or later. Why not start now?)
Bring your life to life: stop planning, start doing.
(Spencer W. Kimball had a sign on his desk containing two simple words: "Do It:" I know it was there because I once had the privilege of seeing it. Long before Nike, this humble old man knew the secret to success lay in taking action. I love this quote because it speaks to the same principle: Do It! All the best plans in the world won't do you a bit of good if you don't act on them. So get out there and Do It.)
Live your dreams.
(Kinda goes in line with the whole past, present, Do It line of thought. Don't let anyone squash your dreams. Another old saying by Walt Disney reminds us that if we can dream it, we can do it. He had some dreams that were deemed pretty crazy back in his time. Yet he has made the world a happier place for hundreds of thousands of people just because he had the courage to live his dream. Where can your dreams lead you? How can your dreams change the world?)
In chaos there lies opportunity.
(If you just know how to harness it......)
Don't stress -- think, and this too shall pass.
(This has long been one of my favorite mottos. Back in the late 80s, a speaker at church once said, "Do you know how many times the phrase 'and it came to pass' appears in the scriptures?" He then gave some ridiculously large number and pointed out that it never came to stay ... it always came to pass. This reminds us not to get too caught up in the valleys of life, because they will surely pass. It also reminds us not to take the peaks in life for granted, for they, too, will not always last. What a great philosophy!)
