Socrates said, "The way to gain a good reputation is to try to become what you want to look like you are." Well spoken, sir, and quite true! Of course, that could work for, or against, a person's favor.
I suspect that most of the people who are trying to appear very important - aren't half so much as they believe they are. I especially wonder at the famous among us. What, exactly, are they trying to look like they are -- and what are they, really?
